Remote Online Notarization allows documents to be notarized electronically using secure audio-visual technology, without requiring the signer to be physically present with the notary.
What Is Remote Online Notarization?
Remote Online Notarization is a legally recognized process in Indiana that enables a commissioned notary to notarize documents online through approved identity verification and audio-visual communication. RON provides the same legal validity as traditional in-person notarization when performed in compliance with state requirements.
When RON May Be Used
RON is commonly used for:
- Affidavits and sworn statements
- Powers of attorney
- Business and personal documents
- Authorization and consent forms

Technical & Signer Requirements
To complete a remote notarization, signers must:
- Appear via live audio-visual communication
- Complete identity verification as required by Indiana law
- Use a device with a camera, microphone, and internet access
- Be willing, aware, and able to sign
Fees
Notarial fees for Remote Online Notarization are charged in accordance with Indiana state law. Any applicable technology-related costs are disclosed prior to service.
