I-9 verification confirms the identity and employment authorization of an individual by completing Section 2 of Form I-9 as an authorized representative.
What Is I-9 Employment Verification?
I-9 Employment Verification is a process required by federal law for employers to verify an employee’s identity and authorization to work in the United States. As an authorized representative, the notary verifies documents presented by the employee and completes the required sections of the I-9 form.
Important: I-9 verification is not a notarization.
What This Service Includes
- In-person identity verification
- Review of acceptable documents presented by the employee
- Completion of Section 2 of Form I-9 as an authorized representative
- Accurate and timely documentation
What This Service Does Not Include
- Legal or immigration advice
- Determining employment eligibility
- Completing Section 1 of Form I-9
- Retaining copies of employee documents unless required by the employer
What You’ll Need
To complete I-9 verification, the employee must:
- Appear in person
- Present acceptable documents as listed on Form I-9
- Provide employer instructions, if applicable
Fees
Fees for I-9 Employment Verification services are disclosed prior to service and are separate from notarial fees regulated by Indiana law.
